To make this red spinel pendant, I had to search for raw spinel crystals in Vietnam, only selected the best with good shape and color to put them in jewelry. 

The design was inspired by the red color of the stone – red which is related to romance, love, blood, heart and rose is the symbol which has almost those signatures. 

And after a few weeks of waiting, here we have this beautiful and red spinel pendant .

SPINEL INFORMATION

The spinel gem had also often been mistaken as corundum ruby, as the two gems were often found in the same mine. It wasn’t until 1783 when Jean Baptiste Louis Rome de Lisle identified the difference between them.

While the spinel stone is found in a wide variety of colors such as red, orange, black, green, pink, lavender and purple. The most valuable spinel have a red hue, strong saturation, and medium tone. The vibrant red spinel is the most popular and known as flame spinel.

This spinel gemstone has a Mohs hardness of 8. Therefore, it can be cleaned and cared for using multiple cleaning techniques without the risk of damaging the stone. 

Ultrasonic machines and steam cleaners are safe to use, although soapy water and a cloth will clean the stone quite effectively. It is, however, advisable not to boil the stone to clean it. Additionally, it’s suggested that you store it away from other jewelry to prevent it from damaging other softer stones in your collection.
