General information about tourmaline
Tourmaline is found around the world and has a variety of colors: Green, black, blue, pink, yellow, bicolor, sometimes tri-color and many other hues of each color, which make tourmaline a special type of gemstones.
The name “Tourmaline” reflects this multicolored splendor. It comes from the Sri Lankan word turmali, which can be translated as “stone with mixed colors” or “gem pebbles.”
With the long history of tourmaline, each color has a specific name, for example: black tourmaline is called Schorl, green tourmaline is called Verdelite, blue tourmaline can be Paraiba Tourmaline or indicolite tourmaline. However, Dravite and Elbaite can appear in a rainbow of colors. And watermelon tourmaline belongs to Elbaite tourmaline.
